Special books and a VERY special birthday...

This week Miss Wones was very excited to share her favourite book.  It wasn't a story book, but an information book.  She had one when she was little and still has it now!  Wow!  It is an atlas.  We learnt that an atlas has lots of maps and we can learn more about different continents and countries.

After exploring an atlas with a friend, we looked closely at all the different countries that make up Africa.  We chose our favourite flag to draw or paint.

Today was a very special day as we celebrated a special birthday for Claire.  We created a beautiful card with Mrs Appleyard, we sang 'Happy Birthday' and James' mum and Miss Turner made delicious cakes which we thought were AMAZING!  Claire also got to do her favourite thing at school...forest school in the sunshine!  The children always have lots of different interests they want to follow - we had nettle bashing, flower fairies being made, tree identification, stew being made in the mud kitchen, den construction, spider spotting and relaxing in a hammock!
