Busy, busy!

We may have only been back at school for 2 days, but we have been super busy with our learning in 2019!  

 As it's a new year, we have of course been wishing lots of people 'Happy New Year!'  We also thought about wishes and hopes we might have for the year ahead.  After reading the book 'Whadayamean,' we came up with some things to make the world a better place, including planting more trees and recycling more.  We started some art work on the story...more to follow next week...
 


 In Maths we have been looking at coins and using money to pay for things.  Year 1 and 2 played a money game on the computers today which you can play at home:

 Finally today we celebrated lots of AMAZING home learning showing our wonderful creativity and hard work.

Village Show

Last weekend our sock creations, art work and efforts from our gardening club were all on display at Hickling Barn for the annual Village Show.  There were many '1st in Class' prizes gained as well as the gardening club wining the shiny, silver cup for best in show!  WOW!   This would not have been made possible without lots of help from people, especially Brenda who gives up so much of her time to run the gardening club and who passes on so much knowledge and enthusiasm for 'growing your own!'

Places and People

This week we have been learning in different places including the Methodist Chapel to enjoy Shrove Tuesday with delicious pancakes, and in our forest school area we found our own 'sit spots' and enjoyed looking at and listening to the natural world. We have also been lucky enough to learn from different people including Rev. Deborah who came and took Collective Worship on Ash Wednesday to help us mark the start of lent.  Mrs Ward (Celene's Nanny) was really kind and brought some frogspawn in for us to observe and learn about.  We also enjoyed reading books to children in the pre-school and to one another to celebrate World Book Day 2019! Goodbye and Good Luck Mrs Bush

Today we said a fond farewell to Mrs Bush as she starts her maternity leave.  We sang some songs to her and shared all our memories with her, which she can keep in her memory box.  We also gave her lots of lovely gifts for her and her new baby.  We can't wait to meet him in the Autumn!
