Remembrance Day 2018...

This year we had a special learning cafe to commemorate 100 years since World War 1 ended. We invited in our families and shared our learning and experiences. A big thank you to everyone that was able to attend. We love learning time together as a family! 







On Sunday we attended the church in Hickling and some of our children took part in a special service. We were extremely proud of how confident and competent the children were at reading special remembrance prayers and poems. Art club's 100 poppies, making the number 100, could be seen displayed at the back of the church for everyone to see during the service. 
We got many wonderful comments from members of our community about our art work and children. How proud I am to be the teacher of such a wonderful, caring school!

Places and People

This week we have been learning in different places including the Methodist Chapel to enjoy Shrove Tuesday with delicious pancakes, and in our forest school area we found our own 'sit spots' and enjoyed looking at and listening to the natural world. We have also been lucky enough to learn from different people including Rev. Deborah who came and took Collective Worship on Ash Wednesday to help us mark the start of lent.  Mrs Ward (Celene's Nanny) was really kind and brought some frogspawn in for us to observe and learn about.  We also enjoyed reading books to children in the pre-school and to one another to celebrate World Book Day 2019! Next week keep an eye on our blog for some more special visitors...

Village Show

Last weekend our sock creations, art work and efforts from our gardening club were all on display at Hickling Barn for the annual Village Show.  There were many '1st in Class' prizes gained as well as the gardening club wining the shiny, silver cup for best in show!  WOW!   This would not have been made possible without lots of help from people, especially Brenda who gives up so much of her time to run the gardening club and who passes on so much knowledge and enthusiasm for 'growing your own!'

Owls

Today we had the BEST visitors...Happisburgh Owls came to see us AND we learnt so much!  We met a Barn Owl called Ghost, a Tawny Owl called Bracken, a Little Owl called Munchkin, an Eagle Owl called Shanti and a Northern White-Faced Owl called Trouble. Ask us about owls vision and hearing - we are experts!  We also know that owls favourite foods are mice, rats and especially voles.   Our best fact of the day was that when you hear Tawny Owls, it is the girl saying 'twit' and the boy answering 'twoo.'   What an AMAZING experience!
