Year 2's Malawian Tuesday!

Miss Wones and the Year 2 children traveled to Norwich today to take part in workshops with the other partnership schools working with schools in Malawi.   Florence, the Headteacher of our partner school came too and we all had a very busy day!  We learnt more about solar energy, some of us learnt some Malawian games, which we are going to teach our friends back at school, and we also had to imagine what life would be like on our very own eco island.

 Most of the other children from the schools were from Year 5 and 6 as well as some high school pupils.  Miss Wones was super proud of us as we joined in with everything, spoke in front of a group, offered our ideas and represented Hickling School fabulously.  Well done Year 2!

Our bucket has been collected.  It will either be taken to Hemsby or Stalham. We will keep you posted... We also held our end of year Church service where our Year 2s were presented with their bibles.  Mr Watton told us this has been a tradition in Hickling for over 200 years!

Out and About

Another week and another chance to take our learning outside the school gates as we ventured to a stretch of Marriott's Way on the outskirts of Norwich.  The bus and activities were both fully funded for us as we are helping Joe (who lead the sessions) with his research into outdoor learning.   We had a great time pond dipping and identifying the creatures we found, as well as exploring the woodland and playing some team games all about how many legs different minibeasts have.  Can you remember what a gastropod is?  How many legs does an insect have?  How can we tell the difference between a centipede and a millipede?

Nativity!

Things are really cool in Nazareth... Today we had our school Nativity which we held annually in the church. Today we performed a play that Miss Turner and Mrs Elliott wrote and produced!   The children performed incredibly with beautiful singing and clear speaking . They remembered where they had to be and did all the actions. All of the teachers are proud beyond words!
