Forest School Magic

On Wednesday it was such a beautiful spring day that we did all our learning outside!  We dissected owl pellets, investigated what was living in our pond, created mud cakes and shelters and played games as a team.  We even managed to have our fruit snack outside and also could enjoy a hot chocolate and toasted GIANT marshmallow too!  Pre-school joined us in the afternoon as we hunted for ladybirds and caterpillars.

 We hope the sunshine is here to stay!

 As well as our adventures on Wednesday, we have been measuring liquids in Maths this week and writing our own stories based on the pattern of The Ugly Duckling.  Our very own fluffy ducklings left us on Thursday and now have a lovely, new home at Pettits.  We plan to visit them soon for our marble treat.

Our bucket has been collected.  It will either be taken to Hemsby or Stalham. We will keep you posted... We also held our end of year Church service where our Year 2s were presented with their bibles.  Mr Watton told us this has been a tradition in Hickling for over 200 years!

Out and About

Another week and another chance to take our learning outside the school gates as we ventured to a stretch of Marriott's Way on the outskirts of Norwich.  The bus and activities were both fully funded for us as we are helping Joe (who lead the sessions) with his research into outdoor learning.   We had a great time pond dipping and identifying the creatures we found, as well as exploring the woodland and playing some team games all about how many legs different minibeasts have.  Can you remember what a gastropod is?  How many legs does an insect have?  How can we tell the difference between a centipede and a millipede?

Nativity!

Things are really cool in Nazareth... Today we had our school Nativity which we held annually in the church. Today we performed a play that Miss Turner and Mrs Elliott wrote and produced!   The children performed incredibly with beautiful singing and clear speaking . They remembered where they had to be and did all the actions. All of the teachers are proud beyond words!
