This week we have been learning in different places including the Methodist Chapel to enjoy Shrove Tuesday with delicious pancakes, and in our forest school area we found our own 'sit spots' and enjoyed looking at and listening to the natural world. We have also been lucky enough to learn from different people including Rev. Deborah who came and took Collective Worship on Ash Wednesday to help us mark the start of lent. Mrs Ward (Celene's Nanny) was really kind and brought some frogspawn in for us to observe and learn about. We also enjoyed reading books to children in the pre-school and to one another to celebrate World Book Day 2019! Next week keep an eye on our blog for some more special visitors...
Today we had the BEST visitors...Happisburgh Owls came to see us AND we learnt so much! We met a Barn Owl called Ghost, a Tawny Owl called Bracken, a Little Owl called Munchkin, an Eagle Owl called Shanti and a Northern White-Faced Owl called Trouble. Ask us about owls vision and hearing - we are experts! We also know that owls favourite foods are mice, rats and especially voles. Our best fact of the day was that when you hear Tawny Owls, it is the girl saying 'twit' and the boy answering 'twoo.' What an AMAZING experience!
Last week saw us share some of our wonderful dancing with our families and local village. We were really pleased to see so many people and the sunshine also made an appearance for us. Before we danced some of the children said they were nervous, excited and happy. We definitely deserved our jam and cream scone or ice lolly afterwards - yum! This week we have learnt some really interesting things about Africa. We know it is one of the 7 continents, it has 54 countries, it has a mountain called Kilimanjaro and you can go and see the 'big 5' animals there. In Art we were inspired by silhouette sunset pictures of the animals and created our own.
